MY MIGRAINE...by Milo

MY MIGRAINE...by Milo

Hello, my name is Milo and I am 9 years old. I have been having migraines for about 5 years. I take 5 ml of sanomigran in the morning and 15 mls at bed time. Sanomigran does work, but then I get used to it and the doctor puts the dose up but then I get used to it again. I am now on the top dose and the doctor at the hospital is looking at trying something else, topiramate. Has anyone else tried this? Is it any good? I have missed quite a lot of school with migraines. I usually get a bit of a warning so I can take painkillers (paracetamol and ibuprofen together) and then go to sleep before the pain or vomiting gets too bad. When I wake up I am usually starving and my mum or dad make me something to eat, unfortunately for them it is often in the middle of the night! I have some triggers, these are uncooked cheese (pizza is OK), chocolate (choc biscuits are OK), Marmite, raisins, being unwell, being tired, being hungry, going to see a movie at the cinema (I take more medicines before I go, just in case).

Although migraines are a real pain they do not stop me doing lots of things I love like skate boarding, playing my guitar, judo, karate and listening to music (the Red Hot Chilis rule!)
